The WE Will! K16 Collaborative, in partnership with the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI), led by Selma Gonzalez and her team, hosted a Community of Practice for CCGI district partners. The event was held at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, where Dr. Troy Brown, a subaward partner, and his team warmly welcomed attendees and generously provided the meeting space.
This Community of Practice was designed to share important updates related to CaliforniaColleges.edu and to foster collaboration among districts implementing Tier I and Tier II college and career planning tools.
The first session highlighted recent enhancements to the A-G eligibility tools and college application status reports. Participants reviewed their district’s current senior A-G eligibility data, set goals, and explored strategies to monitor progress and increase college and financial aid application completion rates.
Attendees engaged in meaningful peer-to-peer learning, shared best practices, and discussed common challenges related to implementation. The CCGI team was actively present throughout the session—facilitating discussions, offering real-time support, and providing expert guidance on improving local practices. This hands-on assistance helped districts identify practical solutions and refine their approaches to college and career readiness.
The workshop also served as a valuable networking opportunity, enabling participants to build regional connections and engage in conversations relevant to their unique district contexts.
